Salutation
Inn Ghost Hunt |
Saturday 18th Oct 2008
£45.00
Haunted Location: Nottingham City - Approx 12 miles from your
home town.
Ye Olde Salutation Inn in Nottingham is reputed to be one of
the oldest and most haunted pubs in Nottingham.
The first evidence of this building is displayed on the apex
wall as '1240 AD' however, the first building on the site
belonged to a Tanner. Their workshops would have been situated
on the ground floor with living accommodation up above for the
Tanner and his employees.
Borough Records state that a private dwelling existed on this
site under the name of John Alsastre. When the Puritans came
to power in 1649 they insisted that there were religious
implications of the name 'Salutation' and ordered that the
name of the Inn be changed so it was then called the 'Soldier
and Citizen'. When the restoration of the Monarchy began the
Innkeeper bought back the old name of the Salutation Inn.The
caves beneath the pub are thought to be 9th Century and were
lived in by Saxon folk. The main haunting of the caves is said
to be that of a young 4 year old girl and there have been some
very strange happenings to support this. 'Pure Fear' are the
words used to describe the feeling of many people who have
visited this strange and eerie place.
We will have exclusive access to the haunted caves and cellars
of this wonderful location and then be able to spend the rest
of the night in the haunted pub. This is a fantastic
opportunity to carry out a traditional ghost hunt using all of
the equipment and working with our paranormal team and
mediums.

Hanukkah
|
|
Saturday
13 December, 11am - 4pm
LONG
EATON TOWN HALL - A day of shadow puppet making for
children and adults. The day will include a shadow puppet
show performed by local children celebrating the story of
Hanukkah. Hanukkah, also known as the Festival of Lights,
is an eight-day Jewish holiday commemorating the
rededication of the Second Temple in Jerusalem. The
festival is observed by the kindling of the lights of a
special candelabrum, the Menorah, one light on each night
of the holiday, progressing to eight on the final night.

ITS IN THE BAG
|
Monday, 6th Oct 2008
Photo opportunity Monday 6 Oct, 11.00am 20 The Sidings,
Kimberley.
Broxtowe Borough Council's kerbside glass collections will be
starting again in December using specially designed weighted
bags. This new improved service will also
enable householders to recycle their glass all year round. The
Mayor of the Borough of Broxtowe, Councillor Sue Wildey, will
launch the scheme. She will be presented with the first
kerbside glass bag by Brock the Badger, the Council's
recycling mascot.
Residents will be able to take advantage of the new
improved service and weighted bags will be distributed to all
households over the next couple of months. The bags can be
used to store glass bottles and jars, this is then put out for
collection on the relevant day.
All kinds of glass bottles and jars are acceptable and
there is no need to separate the colours. The collected glass
will be taken to the Council's Work Depot at Kimberley, where
it is bulked before being collected by the glass processor.
The glass will then be recycled into more bottles and jars or
used as an aggregate for road building.
This additional service makes recycling glass even
easier and it is hoped that it will push Broxtowe Borough
Council further towards achieving its ambitious recycling
target of 50% by 2012.
Any queries or for further information regarding the
service please contact: 0115 917 7777 or visit the website at
www.broxtowe.gov.uk
