Update on the closure of Albion Leisure Centre

Albion Leisure CentreFollowing the decision by the Council earlier this year to close the Albion Leisure Centre, action is now being taken to relocate service users and to redeploy the staff to other leisure centres and council services.

Two employees have already been matched into vacant positions and another round of recruitment will begin at the end of April.

The Rutland Sports Park tennis centre is now being re-surfaced to allow multi-sport use. When this work is completed at the end of May, service users from the Albion Leisure Centre will start to be transferred over. It is expected that nearly all of the centre's users will be relocated by the end of August, with the facility closing for good as planned on or before 1st December 2008.

We've put together a document of Frequently Asked Questions, which should answer most of your queries.

Activities
With around 230,000 visitors a year, our varied activity programme offers both sporting and social activities with something for everyone. Children's activities include a full half term holiday programme which includes everything from roller discos to craft sessions, treasure hunts to circus skills. Year round children's activities include football, gymnastics, jumbo gym tots, tap and ballet dancing classes, kids krazy time and a crèche for under 5 years is provided Monday to Friday. Children's Parties are also available, choose from sporting parties, fun and games or our new disco parties with lights and music. Choose our catering or do it yourself.

Quest

The centre has recently been awarded the nationally recognised Quest Quality Award. Quest is recognised as the industry standard for the management of sport and leisure facilities throughout the UK.
